Bush Santa

Hello again,

Sorry I’ve been missing for a while, I have jumped two feet in to one of my family tree branches and been totally absorbed by the information, certificates newspaper articles etc. which we have been able to gather, I still have a pile of information beside me at my desk aka craft zone to enter into my family tree, but I cast it aside to join in with this years First Rudolph Days over at Scrappy Mo’s.

I made a true Aussie Christmas card today… Santa dressed for the hot weather down here, which is currently a melting 36C here in the mountains and for those between here and the big smoke (Sydney) a balmy and melting 42C. The wild birds who are usually frequent visitors in our garden are nowhere to been seen or even heard today. My bath loving budgie has already had multiple dips in the water dish and enjoyed a light spray of water, giving me one of those excuse me you stopped looks.

On to my card, I bought an Ultimate crafts die set featuring the well known Sydney icons the Sydney Harbour Bridge and The Opera House and have used them for the first time today creating a scene with a bush Santa wearing some other Aussie icons first the shearers blue bonds chesty singlet, I added some holly leaves to it to make it a little more festive, second a pair of Aussie thongs (these are worn on the feet- for those who live elsewhere and have a completely different item of clothing known as that), I’ve also coloured the bush Santa's tinnie in the colours of Fosters Beer.

Here is my card:-

What I used:-
12.7 x 17.8cm card blank (5x7”)
Merci branded watercolour paper (BigW for those in Aus)
Kaisercraft basecoat papers
Aussie Santa Digi stamp from Make It Crafty
edit: Oops I used- Faber-Castell and Derwent Pencils to colour the image
Ultimate Crafts Sights of Sydney dies
Scraps of card and paper in grey, red, green, beige
Black fine line pen
Sprinkled Sugar Stickles (along the sand edge)
Clear atyou Spica pen (invisible but there, as waves, also on sunnies and tinnie)
Adhesives:- PVA Glue, Double sided tape, foam adhesive tape

Gifts

Hello again,

So my trip to western Sydney went well but was extremely hot, I arrived in plenty of time for my appointment to discover I was seeing a different Doctor, who made the announcement that my usual specialist had passed away almost 12 months ago... he was a lovely man and my parents first met him when my older brother was six.

I have almost reached the magical five years of desensitisation and the new doctor said I do not have to have more needles for now! Yippee!!!!! but if my allergies flare up again I will have to start up again (hopefully not back to the beginning, it means going back to weekly injections at my local GP office)

On to more interesting things

Today I am sharing a few of the gifts made for Christmas for my Mum, niece and sister-in-law and an extra owl calendar for a friend from my school years as a moving in gift…, I’ve noticed on Pinterest so many different ways to use the little calendar tabs, I first saw the oh so cute Owl calendar over at Sarah’s blog Mallows Crafts and fell in love with it, so as we tend to get UK craft magazines up to three months after the issue is released I was happy to find the pattern inside and headed straight to the Papercraft Inspirations website to download a full size pattern… then I just had to wait until the 2017 calendar tabs were available. Expect to see a few more calendars popping up here soon, as a they come in packs of ten…

Mum’s calendar is the blue owl and it sits on the fridge, she was quite impressed when she opened it on Christmas day. The green owl will be headed north to Queensland for my friend, every year at Christmas when I hear from her she has moved again and she’s on the move again in mid-January, so I’m holding on to the owl for a bit longer, I resized the template to make it a little smaller to fit in the post.

I also made two note pad and calendars for my niece and sister-in-law using supermarket mini note pads and managed to find some ‘Retro’ pens in miniature to accompany them. For some reason I managed to reverse the pattern

For my niece I went with bright papers and picked out some scrap card and paper that went well with those colours

For my Sister-in-Law I used her favourite colour and some scraps from making a wedding card along with the black and metallic purple paper from my scrap box

What I used:-
AC Wave, Cricket, Amethyst and Leaf Cardstock
Shimelle 6” paper pad
Tiny Brads from stash
Scraps of black, white and stone cardstock
Foam dots
Couture Creations Calendar tabs
Recycled Magnet and chipboard
Calendar and notepad

Memory Box Madeline Bird die

Elizabeth Crafts Butterfly overlay one die set

*I would love to send some of our excess heat to those who are experiencing the extreme cold just now, if only I had a fan big enough... or swap places (if only I had a passport)* the other day in NSW we had temperatures ranging from 8C to 44C in various parts of the state!

Hello 2017

Hello again,

Hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas (and got lots of Crafty pressies) and enjoyed the beginning of 2017, I’m still yet to have a play with most of my gifts, a heat embossing tool does not sound like something I want to use in the middle of our heat wave, this week we are expecting temperatures between 29-36C or 86-97F add in a trip to the inner west of Sydney to see a specialist on the day the area will hit 42-43C (109F) I will be officially melted down to a puddle… time to try one of the elimination diet cold ‘treats’ I think… Strawberry Coconut Cream with fresh berries sounds alright...

Wow have you all been busy! I don't think I'll be able to get around to all your lovely posts since I have three weeks worth of posts to catch up on... but I will be looking through them

I think I’d better share the last of my Christmas cards from 2016 since I fell short on the quantity I needed, I stuck to a couple of super easy fuss free cards with a very similar design to the Scottie Dog card I had made earlier which I also made a second time using different papers same layout.
