Merry and Bright

Hello again,

Well I have actually found the time to make a Christmas card for Rudolph's Day this month, I printed several images from Digital Stamp Boutique, rather larger than normal, leaving me to fussy cut them out to make my cards, here is the first a little elephant from the set Christmas Edwin and Hetty. Coloured with Derwent pencils, with some fairy krystal glitter paint on her hat and the stocking top.

 I will admit that the glitter X-Press-it tape his hiding a join, using a 15cm (6") paper pad does sometimes have its draw backs when making larger cards, I added a large sentiment from MFT Hand lettered Christmas in Versa Color Cardinal ink, which looks much brighter in person than it appears in the photo, heat embossed it with clear powder adding the Kaisercraft Christmas Tree and some star sequins and gems from my stash to finish.

Get Ready For Christmas April


Hello again,


Today brings us to our monthly Get ready for Christmas Challenge at Crafting by Designs, we would love you to join in and show us your Christmas cards you are making, we have one lovely sponsor this month A Day for Daisies will be giving the lucky winner $12 gift certificate for their store.

I have used one of our sponsors digi stamps Scotty Mistletoe ‘A’  and in an effort to get me on track for the number of Christmas cards I need I have made a three cards with the image, all with vintage style papers and paper pieced coats. The first card I realized after printing out my image was rather large and for the next two cards I decreased the size of the image, I tried to make them all a little different using different dies, embellishments and papers, the third card is smaller than the other two.

LPoCF#80 Family Detective

Hello again,

I have used a cute image  Detective Guinea Pig from our sponsor, to make a shadow box card for Family History Month celebrated during August. We first started our tree the year my Dad was 60, he wanted to know why there was no mention of Aunts, uncles and cousins on his father’s side of the family, asking what his grandfather’s name was I got a funny look and he said ‘Grandad’, I started with my grandfather and found his brief service record online which showed his parents address and an initial. So started our hunt into the tree, looking at both Mum and Dad’s trees, discovering that in various towns at the same time branches of both sides of the tree knew one another, some even lived in the same street!
I decided to get fancy with the card and made my first shadow box card, after looking at a couple of tutorials online I made my own to fit a C7 envelope when folder flat. I have used a free sentiment from A Piece of Heart added typed Genealogy Month 2018 and the second sentiment after all sometimes we feel like detectives finding out so much information, in an old family letter mentions trouble for one member of the family still in England, after reading newspapers online from the area and era we discovered that as Foreman of the mine, he had been accused of murder due to a mine collapse (when he wasn’t at the mine) and death of a worker. He was acquitted and the death was deemed accidental.

Thinking of you

Hello again,

Well our weather has turned in the last two days, from 27C to 18C, my poor two little budgies don't know if they are coming or going, they have moulted much more often over summer as the weather changed. The leaves on our autumn trees have only just begun to colour randomly here and there an orange or yellow leaf but still mostly green.

I am back today to share a card made for this months Anything goes challenge over at Crafting By Design, we would love to see what you are making, the challenge is open from now until ANZAC Day 25th April, we have two sponsors for this challenge

Easter gift bags

Hello again,

I hope you all have had a wonderful Easter long weekend, indulged in some Hot Cross Buns and some delicious eggs or bunnies.... strangely I didn't miss the eggs but the smell of the hot cross buns was great, still sticking to my AIP and low histamine diet so my treats were coconut butter melted down and made into chick and Easter egg shapes with the help of a silicone mould.

Apologies for not being around much, or commenting often the last few weeks, I've been unwell with my pain issues and spent time digging in the family tree, helping Mum sort some of the families out that I have progressed with at a faster pace than she could keep up.... and Mum helping me with people she has been working on that I haven't done yet.

I made two bags for Mum and Dad who of course can eat both chocolate and hot cross buns. Filled with a few eggs and a bunny for each, the heat started to have an effect of the consistency of the eggs and some ended up in the fridge.
